For nearly 30 years, the Academy Awards has honored entertainers who've passed away during the previous year in the In Memoriam section. However, while it seems like a nice idea in theory, it hasn't always been as well-received in reality. From the presentation of the section to the inclusion (or exclusion as the case may be) of certain performers, the section has become more of a lightning rod for criticism than a respectful way for Hollywood to honor those it has lost.
After the 93rd annual Academy Awards, Twitter users joined together to express their dismay once again at the year's In Memoriam section, which they felt ignored the death of a beloved star and was too short in honoring those who actually were included.
